Service prices

Japan Access Desk provides services on a project by project basis. The service price, currency and scope are set out in a written quote and confirmed before work begins. The applicable price and direct costs are provided without delay by email or in writing upon request and before a client decides to proceed.

Tax treatment

The written quote states the tax treatment, including any Japanese consumption tax where applicable.

Additional costs and direct expenses

Direct travel, accommodation, transport, tickets, entry fees, purchases, samples, shipping, customs charges, payment provider fees and other agreed out of pocket costs are separate from the service price unless the quote says otherwise. Costs already covered by an approved quote, budget or spending limit do not need separate approval for each expense. I will obtain your agreement before incurring costs outside that approval.

Payment methods

The available payment method is stated in the written quote or payment request. Card payment through Stripe or bank transfer may be offered for a project.

Payment timing

The written quote or payment request states the due date and whether payment is due in advance, in stages or on completion. Stripe card payments are processed when the payment is made; bank transfers must be completed by the stated due date.

Start of service and expected delivery

Work starts after the scope, price, timing and any required payment or expense arrangement are agreed. The expected delivery date, schedule or reporting period is stated in the written quote.

Cancellation, refunds and inability to provide the service

To cancel before work starts, contact Japan Access Desk in writing. The cancellation terms in the written quote or agreement apply.

After work starts, service fees for work already performed and direct expenses already incurred or committed with the client's approval are generally not refundable unless otherwise agreed in writing.

If Japan Access Desk cannot provide a material part of the agreed service for reasons attributable to Japan Access Desk, the client will be notified promptly. The parties will discuss a practical alternative, rescheduling or a refund of the unused portion of paid service fees. Direct expenses already incurred with the client's approval are handled under the written quote or agreement.

Services and contact

Japan Access Desk provides practical research, communication, sourcing, wording review, contact and scheduling for potential research interview participants, local coordination, visits and physical checks in Japan.
